Hopbar Demo
Target link/en/demo/customers/qinghe/billing

Select a customer to see the link change. This is an illustration; use the demo to try Hopbar itself.

Bookmarks, rules, and commands

Save fixed links as bookmarks. Use rules when a link needs the current customer or project ID.

01

Bookmarks

Give your inbox, docs, or dashboard an easy keyword. Type it in Hopbar to open the page.

docs → Work documents
02

Site rules

Type billing on a customer's page to open their bills. Switch customers and use the same keyword.

billing → This customer's bills
03

Commands with arguments

Set up an order link once. Then enter a command and an order number instead of saving every order separately.

:order 7814 → Order 7814

Same command, different customer

We made two sample customer pages. Type billing and check whose bills you get.

The sample config is ready

Download it, import it into Hopbar, and save. Then follow the steps on the page. The file has one bookmark and one rule.

Choose “Add only” to keep what you have. Replacement import overwrites the included lists, so export a backup first.

Older versions have no import mode selector. Back up or update the extension first.

Permissions and data

No Hopbar account is required. Your rules and usage records aren't uploaded to a Hopbar server.

  • ✓Hopbar loads on the current page when you open it. It doesn't request permanent access to all websites.
  • ✓Rules, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally. Hopbar also tries Chrome sync, subject to browser settings and storage limits.
  • ✓Recent usage and cached variable values stay on this device.

Common questions

Do I need rules for every website?

No. Use a bookmark for a fixed URL. Rules are for links that need details from the current customer, project, or order page.

Can it open pages I don't have access to?

No. Hopbar opens links. The destination website still handles sign-in and access permissions.

Where doesn't it work?

Chrome internal pages, extension pages, the Chrome Web Store, and some built-in browser pages can't run Hopbar. Use it on a regular website.

Can I put passwords or tokens in a config?

Please don't. Configs may be synced by Chrome, and the command bar runs in the current page. Check exported files for internal URLs or sensitive details too.

Are screenshots uploaded?

Not to Hopbar. The screenshot command copies the visible area to your clipboard. You decide where to paste it.
